Greeting fellow believers in Christ my name is Lyle Davis. I didn’t come to Christ until I was almost 55 what a shame I wasted all those years. I found Jesus January 31^st 2009.

The next day I wrote my poem Epiphany of Agape Love. I have truly been blessed by the Lord I always believed that "you reap what you sow" and treated everyone like I wanted to be treated. Boy was I surprised when I went to the Church of Hope in Sarasota Florida and found the true meaning of my being on this earth. My poems are Gods work, not mine and I give all glory to him for giving me this gift.  I hope you enjoy them.

Ephesians 2

Entangled

I was entangled in the world,

It was hard to see!

But since I’ve met Jesus,

There’s so much more for me!

I couldn’t see the Forrest,

For all of the trees.

Until I met Jesus,

And fell upon my knees!

I now know there is hope,

And I can surely see.

Because I spoke to Jesus,

And this he said to me.

Shout out to the world,

Let go of me.

I’ve given my body,

And my blood to Thee.

I’m now a changed man,

You can see it on my face.

And I know it comes from Jesus,

And his never ending grace.

EPIPHANY OF AGAPE LOVE by Lyle Davis

I had an EPIPHANY the other day.

The LORD said to me,

AGAPE LOVE is the way!

You can have money and such.

But the love of the LORD,

It can not touch!

I had an EPIPHANY the other day,

the LORD said to me.

AGAPE LOVE is the way!

You can have the things of man,

but bring you to the LORD it won’t.

Try all you can.

I had an EPIPHANY the other day,

the LORD said to me.

AGAPE LOVE is the way!

Believe he died on the CROSS,

it will bring you to the LORD.

Worldly things your only loss.

I had an EPIPHANY the other day,

the LORD said to me.

AGAPE LOVE is the way!

He shed his blood for you and me.

Believe it son.

He will set you free!

I had an EPIPHANY the other day,

the LORD said to me.

AGAPA LOVE is the way!

Believe he cleansed your sin,

with all of your heart.

The devil he can’t win!

AGAPA LOVE is the way!

Agape is pronounced "ah-GAH'-pay".  It is a Greek word.  Found first in the biblical New Testament, agape expresses the spiritual, not physical, love of God for his people.   It is an unconditional love and concern for others.  Agape is a love that accepts everyone for who they are. This is the same love that God expressed for us through the death of Jesus Christ, His Son (1 John 4:9,10).   It is a selfless love.  Everyone has capacity for agape love.

Gossip

Talk is cheap we all know

But some do it even so

They tell your neighbor’s things untrue

When they do, it harms them too

If you deny the things they say

They just wink and say ok

So try and watch the words you speak

Nothing wrong with being meek

The words of a gossip are like choice morsels;
       they go down to a man's inmost parts. Proverbs 18:8

ACCEPTED

He accepted me, I was Bent and broken

He accepted me, not a word was spoken

He accepted me, never walked away

He accepted me, always there to stay

He accepted me, never turned to run

He accepted me, always called me Son

He accepted me, showed me the way

He accepted me, maker of each day

He accepted me, gave me life anew

He accepted me, know he isn’t thru

ANGELS

I know that there are Angels

Because I’ve met all three

One who’s name is Michael

A warrior is he

Uriel and Gabriel

They protect my family

From things we cannot see

EYES OF MY HEART

Jesus opened the eyes of my heart

They have given me a brand new start

I now see things as I should

Something that I never could

I view the world with vision renewed

It strengthens my love for the woman I wooed

They let me see that the love I have

Can be used as a healing salve

They let me know that there is hope

This gives me peace so I can cope

They’ve enlightened me to know the power

CONCERN FOR ME

My old friends have concern for me

Because of the changes they see in me

They say that I haven’t acquired enough

Of the things that I call worldly stuff

I tell them the Lord will provide for me

But they still just cannot see

I’ve been told I was always all in

But now the Lord has cleansed me of sin

The things I loved like money and such

The love of the Lord they can not touch

My old friends have concern for me

Because of the changes they see in me

Matthew 6:24 (mammon means the world and its riches)

No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other,

or he will hold to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

6 ELEMENTS OF PRAYER

You always must remember, to invoke the name of Jesus!

  Pray for things, with his kind of meekness.

You always must remember, to have complete faith they will happen.

Only Then, will your prayer he then fatten.

You always must remember, to make sure that it’s his will.

  Only then, your prayer he would fill.

You always must remember, to be specific of your request.

And always make sure, that you have truly confessed.

You must always remember, have a partner that does the same.

He always hears you, when two or more are gathered in his name.

You always must remember, to talk to him much.

Then he will surely, bless your prayer with his touch.

You always must remember, there are three types of prayer.

Repentance, Petition and Praise, and remember he is the weigher.

Matthew 6:5-6

⁵"And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men.

 I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. ⁶But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen.

Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

FULL CIRCLE

I have gone full circle, 360 degrees.

I’m no longer proud, now I’m on my knees.

I find myself in gatherings, distant and aloof.

Because, I no longer need any proof.

My highs now come, from the most high.

You can to, you just have to try.

I wish that when, I was 180 out.

God would have corrected me, with a shout.

But I now know, that is not his way.

He waited for me, to get to this day.

I’ve gone full circle now.

That is why, to only Him I bow.

Deuteronomy 5:8-10 (New International Version)

⁸ "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.

LOST IT ALL

I lost it all, or so it seemed.

It’s what Christ, my Lord had deemed.

He put me down, deep in the valley.

I think that he was keeping tally.

Would I continue, to go astray?

Or would it make, me go his way?

I’m climbing up, the mountain now.

And all I had to do was bow!

 Now I look forward, I don’t look back.

Because I know, all I’d see is black.

I learned a lot, in that deep valley.

I’m moving forward, and will not dally.

That’s why I write, the poems I do.

To try and make, your soul subdue!

CHRIST IS LOVE

Prune my branches that bear you fruit.

Make my love much more acute.

Remove the ones that bear you not.

Because love they have not you brought.

May your pruning stimulate me to grow.

And cause agape love to flow.

Help me to always remain in the vine.

So I can be with you for all time.

John 15

The Vine and the Branches

¹"I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. ²He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes^[a] so that it will be even more fruitful. ¹²My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

THE STORM

Jesus stand by me, be the eye of the storm.

Hold on to me tightly, and keep me safe and warm.

The lightning tries to hit me, with a blinding flash.

But I hang on, clinging tightly to your sash.

The thunder is so loud, that it hurts my ears.

But I’ll get thru it, following thru the years.

The hail it still hits me, and stings upon my flesh.

But that is what helps me, to always keep my faith fresh.

When the storm passes, things will get real still.

And I will still listen, for I know that is your will.

Luke 8:25

He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. ²⁵"Where is your faith?" he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, "Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him."

HEAR THE LORD

I hear the Lord, I know it is his will.

The first thing, is to have your mind be still.

The next thing is to, envision you in his presence.

Like the story of him, feeding the multitude of peasants.

I like to offer him, a cool drink at the well

And strike up a conversation, and in his words I dwell.

Then let the words, and visions, continuously flow.

Write them down, so you can test them and know.

You can to, if you follow this simple prose.

Remember, your heart, is unfolding like a rose.

Habakkuk 2:1-2

¹ I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what he will say to me,

The Lord’s Answer

SUSTENANCE

I’ll never be thirsty, I live on the Lord.

I will drink, for I’m all aboard.

Jesus said, the water I give, you will not thirst.

If you believe, and become immersed.

Will be like a spring, to eternal life.

Him I will follow, with much less strife.

I’ll never go hungry, I live on the Lord.

I will eat, for I’m all aboard.

Jesus said I have meat to eat.

When you eat, the meat is sweet!

My meat is to do, the will of him.

THE FULL ARMOR OF GOD

As I don the helmet of salvation

To do battle with an evil nation

And fasten the breastplate of righteousness

To spread the word just like Titus

Pull on tightly the belt of truth

For of the word I’ve become a sleuth

Always be ready with the gospel of peace

I’ll always keep talking and never cease

The Armor of God

¹³Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. ¹⁴Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, ¹⁵and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. ¹⁶In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. ¹⁷Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

BLESSED ARE THE MEEK

Meekness is not a weakness, as some would assume.

It’s a gift from Jesus, we should take to the tomb.

Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

It’s not what you have, that determines your worth.

Meekness is focused power, under Gods control.

It’s what controls the value, of your very soul.

Being meek shows the Lord, what is in your heart.

It’s the way the Lord makes us, from the very start.

We are called children of God, because they are so meek.

So remember that God said, to turn the other cheek.

Matthew 5:5
  Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

Isaiah 61:1-2

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

LIKE A CHILD

I find myself becoming like a child,

No longer resistant and wild.

I’ve removed the chains of unrepented sin,

And I’ve let the Lord come in.

I try to be much more repentant and meek,

But don’t mistake that for being weak.

Every day I try to be more humble,

But must admit I often stumble.

But Jesus said to be like a child,

No longer resistant and wild.

Matthew 18:1-4

At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, "Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" And Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them, and said, "Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven."

THE KEY

The judge, I am not to be.

And I will always, obey Thee.

To condemn, is not part of your will.

Sometimes, that’s a bitter pill.

Forgive your trespassers, is what you said.

Into those waters, I will tread.

Give always freely, from your heart.

And then to God, you’ve done your part.

I know that these, are the teeth of the key.

That makes me very, pleasing to Thee.

Luke 6:37-38

(37) “Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. (38) Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.”
